Two Miami FC Academy Players Take the Next Step
Nohe Chevry has been called into Haiti's U-17 national team camp ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, and Mauro Graveran has been invited to a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center.
Plenty of kids in South Florida grow up watching national teams on TV. This fall, two Miami FC Academy players took a step toward playing for one. Nohe Chevry, who plays for Miami FC's U-20 team, has been called into Haiti's U-17 national team camp. The Haitian Football Federation asked the club to release him for a training camp in Brazil and Qatar, as Haiti prepares for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. Haiti booked its place in the tournament in February.
Mauro Graveran, who plays for Miami FC's U-14 team, has been invited to a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center in Fort Lauderdale on November 4. He's one of 32 players from clubs across the region taking part.
Talent ID Centers are how U.S. Soccer finds and evaluates top young players for its Youth National Teams. They're free, one-day sessions run by U.S. Soccer's own talent identification staff, and they're built to feel like a Youth National Team camp. For Mauro, it's a first step on the pathway toward a possible future call-up.
“Seeing Nohe called into Haiti’s U-17 camp and Mauro invited to a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center is a proud moment for everyone at Miami FC,” said Firmiano Ribeiro, Executive Director of the Miami FC Academy. “We’re excited to support Nohe and Mauro through this next step, and we believe they’re only getting started.” For the Academy, it's a sign the pathway is working. The Academy sits in the middle of Miami FC's player development pathway, from recreational play through the Academy and toward the club's competitive teams. For a few players, that road also leads to their country's national team programs.
At SPH, that pathway is about more than soccer. The goal is to develop the whole person: young people who can handle pressure, keep learning, and represent their club the right way, wherever the game takes them. Today it's two players. The work behind it is the same for every kid in the program.
Nohe and Mauro didn’t get here on their own. Congratulations to their families, their teammates, and every coach who’s worked with them. Good luck to Nohe in camp and to Mauro on November 4. We’ll be cheering for both of them. Families interested in the Miami FC Academy can learn more at https://www.miamifc.com/academy/.
