Miami FC Youth Academy Joins ONE GAME ONE FUTURE Legacy Project at Tamiami Park

On September 22, 2026, the organizations celebrated the groundbreaking of the ONE GAME ONE FUTURE Legacy Pitch Project at Tamiami Park, an initiative that will refurbish one of the park's soccer fields and create an improved playing environment for the surrounding community and Miami FC Youth Academy. The program featured remarks from Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; Alina Hudak, President & CEO, FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee; Michelle LaChapelle of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee; Dr. Lucas De Virgilio, Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Pediatric and Adult Sports Medicine at the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute; and Nick Sakiewicz, CEO and Co-Founder of Sports Performance Hub.

During the program, the University of Miami presented a $250,000 check to the Miami FC Youth Academy. Of that total, $200,000 will fund the field improvements at Tamiami Park and $50,000 will fund two-year scholarships for 10 deserving children, made possible through contributions from Host Committee Board Member and former University of Miami President Donna Shalala, Ph.D. The renovated field is expected to be completed in late 2026. The celebration concluded with a youth soccer clinic led by Miami FC Youth Academy coaches, with Academy players and their families in attendance.

SPH is an integrated sports and education destination being developed in Homestead, Florida, designed to bring together youth development, elite training, education and professional sports while creating pathways for athletes at different stages of their development. The Academy's participation in the Tamiami Park project reflects that vision, supporting access to sports and development opportunities beyond the future SPH campus.

The project is part of ONE GAME ONE FUTURE, the Miami Host Committee's legacy platform focused on extending the impact of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ well beyond the tournament itself.

With support from Host Committee Board Member and former University of Miami President Donna Shalala, Ph.D., the initiative will also provide two-year scholarships to 10 deserving children to support their educational goals. The renovated field is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

By bringing together public, educational and sports organizations, the project is designed to create a long-term community asset while giving more young athletes access to quality environments in which to play and develop.

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ brought the world's biggest matches to Miami this summer. Projects like the one at Tamiami Park show what can remain after the stadiums empty: a better field, a scholarship, a place for the next player to start.

For Miami FC Youth Academy and SPH, that work is already taking shape in communities across South Florida, even as the SPH campus continues to develop in Homestead.
